Legacy TLS · Switzerland (domains)
What share of domains in Switzerland have legacy TLS 1.0/1.1 still enabled?
5.05% of domains in Switzerland (95% CI 3.03–8.3%), measured across 277 domains on 2026-08-13.
Measured every Thursday since 2026-08-01 — 2 observations to date. Last measured 2026-08-13.
How this is measured
Tier 2, via the DomainAPI TLS endpoint, which tests each protocol version explicitly. Denominator: has_web.
Passive measurement: a single DNS lookup, TLS handshake, or homepage GET per domain. Aggregate-only; no individual company is named. 95% Wilson confidence intervals. Population: domains sampled from the Common Crawl web graph, filtered to those that do email. Parked domains excluded. Snapshot: common-crawl-domain-stratified-c400-g2500-seed20260729.

Why it matters
Supporting a deprecated protocol version is invisible from the browser — the site loads over TLS 1.3 and looks modern — while the server remains willing to downgrade for anything that asks.
Limits of this measurement
Must be measured server-side. A modern client cannot detect this, because its own OpenSSL refuses to offer TLS 1.0/1.1.
